Variety of boulevard s flora - Alley of Palms

The alley of palm trees gives a special charm to the coastline of Batumi; they can be considered the most characteristic tree-plants for the landscape of the boulevard.

Many types of palm trees grow on the territory of the boulevard: Date palms, Coconut palms, Washingtonia, Chamaerops and others.

Palm trees are maintained seasonally. In order to protect them from the winter wind and frost, employees of the boulevard landscaping tie up and wrap palm trees, and in summer free them from extra branches.

General information: Palm belongs to the family of Monocotyledon plants, the main species is characterized by lignified stems. Their large family includes 185 genera and about 3400 species. Palm trees are mainly distributed in tropical and subtropical countries.
