Today, a ceremonial event was held in Batumi Boulevard to launch the 43rd World Chess Olympiad on Chess Square. Within the scope of the event, the exhibition dedicated to Georgian chess was held, flash mobs, fun quizzes and collaborative games with masters were held.
The main attribute of the solemn occasion was one of the main prizes of the Olympics, Nona Gaprindashvili's Cup - five ways World Chess Champion. "Nona Cup" International Federation of Chess - FIDE - was introduced in 1997. Starting from the 1998 Olympics, it will be awarded to the country whose boys and women's teams will get the most points in the Olympiad. "Nona Cup" was exhibited in almost every region of Georgia: in the capital, Kakheti, Shida and Kvemo Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Imereti and Racha, Samegrelo and Guria.
The event was attended by Tornike Rizvadze Chairman of the Government of Adjara Autonomous Republic, Minister of Health and Social Affairs of Adjara, Zaal Mikeladze, Director of Batumi Boulevard Irakli Jincharadze and representatives of the society. We remind you that Batumi will host the 43rd World Chess Olympiad between September 23 and October 5.
